Mould Technology Solution Centre Groundbreaking Ceremony

In response to the mould technology and skills development requirement of the Philippine metals industry, the Korea Association of Machinery Industry (KOAMI), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), is establishing the Mould Technology Solution Centre (MTSC) at the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ).

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on October 30, 2019, at the EPZA-Bacao Road in General Trias, Cavite province, in the Philippines, was attended by Secretary Fortunato de la Peña of the DOST and Ambassador Han Dong-man of the Republic of Korea. Also present were Gi Tae Shim of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT); Hyeong Ki Choi, CEO and Executive Vice President of KOAMI, along with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Charito B. Plaza, Board of Investments (BOI) Director Evariste M. Cagatan, and Philippine Die and Mould Association (PDMA) Inc. President Hector U. Villanueva.

Funded by the Republic of Korea via the Official Development Assistance (ODA), the four-year program’s first phase involves the construction of a building that will house state-of-the-art equipment to be used in training and enhancing the skills of Filipinos in the latest mould and die technology.

The construction of the MTSC building is expected to be completed by June next year, and is expected to start providing skills training in die and mould by the end of next year, according to the DOST’s Metals Industry Research and Development Centre (MIRDC).
